This morning I did a funeral visit for someone aged 105.  She was just a home maker said her daughter. I do so dislike she was only….or just a…………. She was special and precious to God!

It is sad when you come away from a visit feeling that you really know nothing about the person and wonder what you can find to say to make the funeral personal.

However, I have learnt from experience that it is often as you get up to leave that you hear the gems.

‘Of course, she would have loved to tell you all about her adventure’ says the daughter, as she shows me out. ‘She took herself off to Kenya on a safari holiday including going up in a hot air balloon. She was only 86 then! Of course my brother and I were a bit worried but……’
