At 8pm last night when I put church to bed after the Maundy Thursday communion the roof was fine. CWs opened up this morning to find water cascading in everywhere and the lead gone. Definately not a glorious sight. As there is still some lead rolled up on the roof we suspect that the thieves will be back to get the rest. Why did they have to choose a bank holiday weekend when all the local builders have gone on holiday!
CWs have decided to sleep inside church tonight. Perhaps if we had had a proper watch last night this would not have happened.
We are desparately trying to dry things out now so that we can celebrate Easter inside on Sunday. Sunday calls for a different sermon.
