Traditionalists

Am about to offend all the traditionalists in the benefice who are very sure that there is a right way to do things.

Firstly I’m breaking the no flowers in Lent rule.  I’ve put the flowers from P’s coffin on the altar at St A’s and we are having flowers at F’s funeral at St M’s this afternoon.

Secondly we are having pancakes on Sunday at the afternoon praise service ( 5 days late and well into Lent).  We might even sing an alleluia.

I fully expect to be told that I have got things all wrong.  I love tradition but there again I love subverting the rules now and again too.

You’re leaving out the traditions – and I’m putting them in. We don’t usually do all that in the CofS but, so far, we’ve had ashes AND we’ve put away the alleluias. It does no harm to ring the changes. Anything to get folk to notice worship and not be too compplacent.

Don’t worry Liz. We’ve done all the traditional stuff too. I am very jealous of your labyrinth though. Must have a go at that.
